What's been happening at Kirkham Henry in February
Kirkham Henry Saturdays

Kirkham Henry Saturdays, and another busy busy day for all our families. Dropping off, picking up, staying and chatting to friends, never a quiet moment.
That's just how we like it. Here are Miss Joanne's little foundation class from early this morning practicing their pointy toes and their acting faces. Some of our tap class trying hard, a quick peek into singing..and a gorgeous message from Miss Allison along with her great drama class pictures...
One of the reasons I love KH, how all the students want to help as they grow older. And the little ones love having them around. Miss Allison.

Mr John Raine

It is with the greatest of sadness that we announce the death of Mr. John Raine, husband to Miss Angela, Dad to Pippa and Sam. Grandad to Nell. Uncle, Dad in law, brother in law and Friend to many.
Although heartbroken Miss Angela and family have been humbled by the kind words being sent from those who were contacted before this announcement and wish to apologise to those who knew John if you’re reading this sad news for the first time. Grateful thanks to the wonderful caring staff of the respiratory ward (34) at York District Hospital and all the support the family have been given by many, especially in the last few days. John left this world listening to his favourite songs from the musicals.
Rest in peace ‘uncle’ John. More information when arrangements have been made.
Katy Clarke

Sharing with you, this from former pupil of KH - Katy Clarke
Hey Everyone,
Its Katy here with a quick update on my life so far at sea🛳, I hope everyone at KH is well and not too cold back home in England! Cruise life is nothing like anything you’ve experienced before... We’ve had various replacements already, just to keep everything interesting; I had my first Christmas away from home with a Christmas show that was amazing fun and a New Years, watching the most incredible Madeira fireworks, from off shore, after a show pool party in our crazy white night costumes! I never have to wear a jumper in the beautiful weather and can’t wait for April when our course changes to much more of Northern Europe. It still seems unbelievable to me that I am getting paid to travel the world, sunbathe, and dance every evening. I will see you very soon, hopefully with a lovely tan and wish all the best till then.
Here’s a photo of the most crazy costumes and of course exploring Teide Mountain in the sun...
Ellie & Sophie

Good evening,
Just to let you all know what a wonderful day Ella and Sophie had at the IDTA Theatre Dance Awards on Saturday. Both girls were nominated for an award after receiving really high marks for their Idta Intermediate Ballet back in December 2018.
They both did really well and reached the final 24 out of 100!
What a great achievement girls.
This is what Ella said
"I really enjoyed the day, especially the variation and I hope to be chosen to do the day again."
Well done to both girls, glad you had a super experience and thanks for the lovely photos.
Dom Weatherill

Its’ been a wet Wednesday but we hope you are still enjoying your half term break.
We have had a lovely message from former KH student Dom Weatherill updating us on his latest venture.
All Creatures Great and Small was an iconic film back when it was released in 1975, and proved to be a popular weekly series following on from that as some of you will remember.
Well although it still being kept fairly quiet, the remake is to air shortly on Channel 5 , 30 years after it was last on our screens, and Dom will appear in this new tv show, Here is what he said, without giving too much away,
"It was brilliant to see such a lovely picture of Miss Angela and John dancing in the original film of All Creatures Great and Small
I was asked to dance on the show along with 5 other dance partners, we did a Foxtrot so it was nice to put some of my old ballroom lessons to good use, and now seeing Miss Angela's picture, it just makes the whole thing even more special for me.
The show will be airing later this year."
We will let all you James Herriot fans know a bit more when we have another update from Dom

Happy Saturdays

Happy Saturday to you all...but no KH Saturday today with classes and studios filled with laughing, hard working children but still things to be done before everyone returns next week after a quick half term break...Its amazing how many emails can come in over a weeks half term that need replying to... makes me wonder how Miss Angela managed sometimes.
Despite friends not dancing together today, it didn't stop the wonderful Junior Dancers from panto having fun together at their end of panto celebration meal last night , one or two couldn't make it unfortunately, but Miss Joanne says they had a really lovely time thanks to Susie Walsh ( Riley and Lincoln's mum) for organising it.
We all look forward to seeing everyone back at classes next week.starting Monday Feb 24th. Miss Kyla
Samantha Raine

On this day 23rd February 2013 former pupil Samantha Raine danced her final performance as soloist of The Royal Ballet company to become the youngest ballet mistress in the company’s history. Sam was promoted to the company’s very first Senior Ballet mistress last year a role created for her. We at KH are extremely proud of Sam’s achievements together with her mum Miss Angela and her dad John Raine who sadly passed away recently.

Issy Cooke

Miss Kyla here , good evening. Here’s a little update from one of our senior girls, Issy Cooke who was still busy with her dancing during half term . Going to courses and summer schools at top dance colleges as Issy has done, gives the students a good understanding and a look into where they may like to audition in the future for further training towards their dance careers . Here’s what Issy said,
Hello Miss Angela, it’s Issy here.Thankyou so much for recommending Tring Park.
I went to the senior ballet intensive last weekend and had such an amazing time. The classes were great and the teachers were lovely. I really hope I have the opportunity to go back again x
Leap Year!

Kirkham Henry Saturdays and phew what a day . It’s been that special extra day of February and it certainly hasn’t been a quiet one .
Our great morning musical theatre classes going on in all studios , trying to be kind and helping each other , followed by afternoon musical theatre classes, drama and singing. As well as all the fun and hard work at Kirkham Henry our young festival team were dancing their socks off at the Leeds stage dance festival with teachers heading off to Tadcaster straight from teaching classes. We had a few medals today with everyone dancing beautifully. Well done to all and here’s to another fantastic festival day tomorrow x
