All of our June news
1st June 2021
Here’s a fabulous update sent from Beth last week. We are hoping to get a trip organised when we get back after half term. 👏👏

"Hi everyone! So I have just finished my second day of Hairspray UK Tour rehearsals. It’s been a full on couple of days learning all of the vocal material and finally meeting all of my fellow cast members after a year and a half of waiting! I’m super excited to start dance rehearsals with Drew McOnie on Monday - it’s going to be an amazing show!
If anyone is wanting to come I will attach the link to see all of our dates and venues across the UK and Ireland. We start touring at the end of June so if you are going on a staycation this summer or want to come and watch close to home (Bradford is our closest venue) then I would LOVE to see you all!!
Much love,
Beth xxx"

Sunday evening smiles

What a lovely surprise Miss Angela received off her Niece, Sas, when they recently met up in London!

Sas gave her a card off Ant and Dec!!!

Sassy had been telling Ant and Dec , while she was working backstage with them, all about her Auntie Angela’s 50th year of teaching celebration and so Dec wrote the card without hesitation and both Ant and Dec signed it.

Thank you Saskia for your kind thought of spreading the word of the work that Miss Angela and Kirkham Henry do and to Ant and Dec for taking time out to write the card. ❤️

Sunday morning smiles-

Wonderful memories of attending The Patron’s lunch this very rainy weekend 2016.

Seeing Miss Sophie with fellow students from The Royal Academy of Dance as part of the parade and having the privilege of talking to Dame Monica Mason and Sir Peter Wright of The Royal Ballet Company made my day.
Miss Angela x

Dame Monica Mason, DBE, is a former ballet dancer, teacher, and artistic director of The Royal Ballet.
Sir Peter Wright, CBE is a British ballet teacher, choreographer, director and former professional dancer. He worked as a choreographer and as the artistic director of Birmingham Royal Ballet.
The Patron’s Lunch
On Sunday June 12th 2016, The Mall in St James’s Park was transformed for its largest ever street party to celebrate The Queen’s patronage of over 600 charities and organisations on the occasion of her 90th birthday.
The Patron’s Lunch was an iconic event that recognised the un-relenting support and service our Monarch has given to the community over her 63 year reign. The Mall was the centrepiece to the truly magnificent spectacle; 10,000 guests, most of whom were representatives from the Patron’s Organisations, taking part in a classic British ‘street party’.
The invited guests enjoyed hamper-style lunches at tables positioned along the full length of The Mall. They were entertained by the spectacular parade that was designed to encapsulate memories from the decades of Her Majesty The Queen’s reign.

Sunday evening smiles... From Miss Nicky

“When our voices join together, we are fearless, we are one.”

What a joy to hear a group of young people singing together again!
Thank you for those who joined me this morning in my group singing workshops. Everyone did really well with mask wearing and social distance spacing which meant hearing each other was tricky at times but it was just wonderful to be in a room where we could sing with our friends after a year and a half. Watch out for more dates in the near future!

“Singing lifts the spirits, heals the heart and feeds the soul. Singing makes us stronger, we can reach for any goal.”

From the excited children leaving I’m sure everyone enjoyed their singing. Thankyou Miss Nicky for your time and to Miss Millie for her help with the younger ones.

A lovely morning .

and plenty of them today as our IDTA Intermediate performers, after so so long waiting through lockdowns and waiting for exams to be able to take place again, finally got to show all their hard work and dedication for a ‘filmed ‘exam.

Miss Rebecca did an amazing job with her camera work and Miss Joanne was playing music .

These filmed exams will be sent to an IDTA examiner to be examined .

Everyone was so happy when they came out and danced fantastically . Miss Rebecca was feeling very emotional and very proud of all her dancers .

Well done to everyone

Sunday evening smiles-

Miss Nicky here:

What a lovely morning of song!

In private lessons some of my pupils have been learning duets and trios. They have learnt their part on its own and this morning some of them were able to come to the studio and sing it with their song partners in ‘real life’! Some have had some tricky harmonies to master and many of them surprised themselves when they heard it as they sang together for the first time. It was wonderful and I am super proud of all of them! It was lovely to be able to share a bit with our families too. Thanks for coming.

A few more to do in the coming weeks if we can find times where everyone is available around work and school! Thanks for all your hard work learning your songs everyone.

Congratulations to Miss Nicky and all involved, what an achievement to be able to do such a wonderful presentation.
28th June 2021
Bring on the girls

Here’s Josie, Janet, Julie and Anita who have been Tap dancing at KH for 150 years between them !

Josie and Julie for over 40 years and Janet and Anita for over 30 years. (Even taking Adult Tap exams).

Here they are after their Monday afternoon Tap class. Their class mates haven’t been dancing as long but they all tap together with gusto, and usually with a big smile on their face.

Well done girls and Keeeeep Dancing 👏👏
30th June 2021
Here’s an exciting update from former pupil Leo.

"Hello everyone! After what has been an incredibly interesting year and a half of training in 2 different careers, I’m feeling so lucky to be going back to doing a job I love - SINGING!

Fellow ex-student Scott Garnham asked me to be a part of ‘The Barricade Boys’ performing on the beautiful Celebrity Silhouette and so for the past couple of days, I’ve been rehearsing down in London!

We have 4 different shows to learn, with music ranging from Tom Jones to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.

I feel so grateful to Scott for giving me this incredible opportunity and for helping me to go back to work and re-igniting my passion for performing again. I’m looking forward to the next 4 months of entertaining guests whilst travelling around the U.K., Iceland and Western Europe!

I hope all of you are doing well and that you are all enjoying and looking forward to a return to ‘normality’ again! Stay safe and healthy everyone ❤️"

How wonderful that two former KH young men are working together. 👏👏👏👏
