Here’s a lovely Moving on story, we wish you all the best for your future Tilly.

Hi Matilda here…
Here’s an update of what I’ve been doing …..

I attended Kirkham Henry for 13 years and had planned on staying through sixth form but then found out that my courses at school had been discontinued.

I was lucky enough to audition and get a place for sixth form at the NDC college in Hartlepool ( Nadines dance college) studying performing arts and musical theatre, this also meant I had to move away from home and I could no longer go to KH.

It’s been a great 2 years training with people who are in the industry, who have a lot of experience and who share their knowledge with us. They are such an inspiration.

We are just getting ready for our summer show and I am the dance captain for Ballet, lots of costumes to organise.

In January I started auditions and I have accepted a place at Bird college on their 3 year degree course in performing arts and musical theatre . I can’t wait to start in September.

I’m so grateful for the training I had at Kirkham Henry, and I’ve made some great friends along the way.

Good luck everyone with showcase 2024.
9th June.
Sunday morning smiles- A couple of weeks ago I received a telephone call from York Mix radio to inform me I’d got to the final 3 of the Hero awards 2024 for ‘the face of adversity’ After the initial shock ( I thought it was a joke) I informed the young man that I couldn’t attend the event due to a prior engagement I had committed to.
Therefore I must take this opportunity to Thank Miss Kyla and Miss Joanne for attending the event on my behalf. I honestly know to be chosen as a finalists is not all about me, it’s about KH and every amazing teacher who believes in who we are.
It was fitting Michaela and Joanne could go along to York racecourse on Friday evening to the event hosted by York Mix radio as they have volunteered hours of their time for KH. Choreographing for our children’s and youth Ballet for starters, I could write so much more ! Yes it’s my name on the certificate but it’s every one of you who help support and spread the word about our award winning inclusive school and community hub. Thank you York Mix. Miss Angela. ❤️
12th June.
Amazing update from former pupil Beth Armstrong- We’re soooooo proud of you Beth, keep up the fantastic work.

Hello all Beth here , just a little update from me! As many of you may know, I am currently in the West End cast of Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London and have been for the past year. I have decided to stay for another year with this wonderful show and I have been given the exciting opportunity to cover the iconic duo-role Peggy Schuyler / Maria Reynolds. I’m super excited to be understudying these characters and having the incredible chance to be a leading lady on the West End!

I’m sending you all my love 💞 and please know my DMs are always open if you ever have any questions about a career in theatre!!
18th June.
Do you know Kirkham Henry encourages people with learning disabilities to join in our many different classes in Dance Drama & Music. No one is turned away .

This week is Learning Disability Week.

The event, organised by the charity Mencap, and is an opportunity to raise awareness about different learning disabilities, what life is like for those who have one and to also celebrate what people with learning disabilities bring to society.

This year's theme is "Do you see me?"

It's all about challenging some of the barriers people who have learning disabilities face.

Check out our website for information on our classes.
22nd June.
KH Saturdays-With a difference!

How absolutely proud are we to have former pupils performing in West End Live in Trafalgar square London.

Today Beth was performing the role of Peggy ( and got a massive cheer from the huge crowd) with the cast of Hamilton. Shane was dancing and tumbling with the cast of Magic Mike. Tomorrow Scott will be singing with his creation of The Barricade Boys. All can be seen on West End live YouTube by typing in the show.

Photos of today of Beth and Shane and of Scott from last years appearance. West End LIVE is presented by Westminster City Council and Society of London Theatre with support from the Mayor of London. So wonderful to be able to watch you all from little ol’ Malton. KH where the dream begins.
25th June.
Congratulations to Edward for gaining a place on the waiting list for The Royal Ballet School junior associate scheme.

Edward has been offered supplementary training to his KH classes via Zoom by The Royal Ballet School.

We are so proud of Edward as he has not been studying ballet for very long. Well done Edward from all your teachers at KH. 👏👏
28th June.
KH where dreams come true - When parents introduce their children to KH and the performing Arts, we’re sure no parents thinks their child’s hobby could turn into an amazing career.

Here’s a young Hannah and Beth smiling away during a rehearsal and as top of their game successful artists. Both now professional musical theatre performers, where training in Dance, Drama and Singing at KH together with the 3 D’s of Dedication,Discipline & Determination set them up to reach their dreams.

Hannah and Beth are two of many graduates from KH who have gone onto great heights in performing, teaching or technical backstage and more careers in the industry.

So parents remember,it all starts as a recreational hobby but can lead to vocational and pre-professional training and a career.

Yes KH where the dream begins.
