All of our June 2023 News
4th June 2023
I hope you’ve all had a good break from taxiing to KH and are ready for our summer term.

Having been away myself to lovely friends in Ireland, I wasn’t able to watch former pupil Ben Greenhough in BBCs Doctors
(Wednesday 31st May) so I made sure to watch it when I arrived back home yesterday.

It goes without saying how proud I am of Ben, if you haven’t seen the episode titled Father Figure, do find time to do so.

Congratulations Ben, well done for inspiring the next generation of KH performers who have a dream beyond the streets of Malton.
From Miss Angela and all at Kirkham Henry. 👏👏

Miss Kyla and Miss Angela are so grateful to Carole and Hilary and to Lisa for setting up the meeting with them.

KH & ‘Friends’ would also like to thank the people who have been in touch with ideas on funding and buying a brick since our article went out in The Gazette and Herald.

Thank you everyone for your continuous support

Today we had our fire drills for our infants, juniors and seniors. Thanks to Jane and Mark from The Mount Hotel for their continuous support in allowing us to use their side garden as our meeting point.

To all our teachers , assistants and volunteers for calmly guiding our pupils out of the building. Each age group made it out from each studio and area and completed their registration check, in record time.

Thank you everyone ( at least we had chance to cool off!)
25th June 2023
What a proud week we’ve had at KH.

It started off with Beth Armstrong making her West End debut in Hamilton at The Victoria Palace London. The very next day Eliza Lomas sent a link to the BBC World service of her interview with Wayne McGregor resident choreographer at The Royal Opera House. The wonderful news continued when it was announced Hannah Richardson has been cast in the role of Mary in the award winning UK tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Eliza moved on from KH well before Beth and Hannah, who both played leading roles in Ryedale Youth Theatre productions. RYT was founded by the late Jennie Henry and myself and we volunteered hours of our time as Musical Director and Director/ choreographer.

In 2015 Hannah made a name for herself in the lead role as Eva Peron in our production of Evita while Beth was supporting actress playing the role of the mistress. The following year Beth played the lead role of Kathy Seldon in Singin’ in the rain while Hannah was the supporting actress in the role of Lina Lamont.

Spotting such talent in both Beth and Hannah from an early age, still doesn’t prepare me or any of our teachers who taught and nurtured them to hear of their amazing achievements.

It’s true KH is a special place, as hundreds of young people have gone on to succeed in the performing arts industry, some you can spot in the photographs. With the spotlight being on our community well-being hub and our Adult classes lately, I’m so proud to highlight the marvellous training our youngsters receive from our KH teachers.

So here’s to KH, as we continue to keep putting little old Malton, well and truly on the map.

Phew -That’s a wrap , RAD Grade 6-8 exam all done and dusted.

We’d like to thank everyone for working so hard to produce the standard you performed in your exam. Although stiflingly hot , you danced like professionals and didn’t let the heat lower your ability to give it all you’ve got.

We sincerely hope your mark reflects you dedication and hard work.

Miss Angela and Miss Kyla.

Here’s Lincoln with his moving on story.

Hi, it’s crazy to think I started at KH 7 years ago.
It’s all gone by so fast.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to the teachers for encouraging and supporting me.
It’s going to be strange come September not dancing with my friends and I will miss you all so much.
But, I’m excited for this new chapter and can’t wait to start at Wilkes Academy in September.

We will miss you Lincoln , all the best for your future, from all at KH.
